Overview
Scope of the Role:
The Junior Project Manager is an essential member of the project team responsible for directing, organizing, and controlling project activities, under the direction of the Project Manager. The main goal is to make sure that the project runs smoothly by tracking project progress and communicating its status to management and project members.
One is required to be proficient in the development and finishing stages of property, be independent and detail-oriented with the ability to coordinate the execution of the project within set time-frames.
Responsibilities:
- Assisting the Project Manager in the drafting and issuance of project proposals, tender documents, Preliminary estimates, cash flows, and preliminary schedules;
- Assisting in the preparation of project organization and communication charts;
- Assisting in communicating relevant project information to the client and project team in an effective and accurate way;
- Assisting the Project Manager in the review of Contractors’ quotations;
- Keep the Project Manager and internal stakeholders informed about the project progress status and issues that may impact client relations;
- Be involved in the design of new developments, extensions, or alterations to existing buildings;
- Provide layouts, general arrangements, and detailed technical drawings on AutoCAD or other related software according to business needs and specifications;
- Oversee progress during each phase of a project in close liaison with internal and external stakeholders including the coordination of contracted work;
- Ensure that projects are constructed in accordance with specifications and design intent, completed within the stipulated timeframes and within budget;
- Conduct regular site visits to check on progress and take the necessary corrective actions if and when shortfalls are noticed;
- Ensure compliance with local Health and Safety procedures on-site and on tasks being carried out;
- Perform other related duties as may be required from time to time;
- Carry out site re-measurement in accordance with the Contract and assist in the issuance of interim payment certificates and the project’s final account.
Requirements:
Education
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Engineering, Built Environment Studies, or other equivalent qualification;
- Assisting the Project Manager in the review of Contractors’ quotations;
- Keep the Project Manager and internal stakeholders informed about the project progress status and issues that may impact client relations;
Knowledge, skills, and abilities
- Good knowledge in project and construction management of civil works and finishes projects;
- Good knowledge of Quantity Surveying in Construction;
- Knowledge of Planning Authority requirements and procedures;
- Good command of Maltese and English languages both written and spoken;
- Managing project costs and resources;
- Ability to think methodically, plan and manage projects;
- Negotiation, supervision, and leadership skills combined with the ability to delegate;
- Strong communication and organizational skills;
- Excellent attention to detail.
Proficiency in the use of computers namely
- AutoCAD;
- Software applications related to design and property in general;
- Word processing;
- Simple accounting;
- Database management;
- Spreadsheets;
- E-mail;
- Internet.

Experience
- 3 years of experience in project management or related field.
Working Conditions
- The Junior Project Manager is expected to work in various working environments to perform his duties and responsibilities;
- The Junior Project Manager works a standard work week, but may be required to work some evenings and weekends to meet project milestones and/or deadlines;
- In case of emergencies, the Junior Project Manager must be reachable by phone even after office hours, including evenings and weekends.
