Overview

Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Senior Finance Executive to oversee financial reporting, budgeting, compliance, and internal financial controls across the Group or assigned business units.
The role requires strong technical accounting knowledge, commercial awareness, and the ability to support strategic decision-making through accurate financial analysis and reporting. The ideal candidate will ensure financial integrity, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency while contributing to the Group’s financial governance framework.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting & Control
- Prepare monthly management accounts and financial statements.
- Ensure accuracy of general ledger postings and reconciliations.
- Review and approve journal entries, accruals, and adjustments.
- Conduct variance analysis and provide commentary on financial performance.
- Ensure timely closing of monthly and annual accounts.
Budgeting & Forecasting
- Assist in preparing annual budgets and rolling forecasts.
- Monitor actual performance against budget and recommend corrective actions.
- Support business units with financial planning and cost control.
- Prepare financial projections and scenario analysis for management.
Compliance & Governance
- Ensure compliance with IFRS and local regulatory requirements.
- Support external audits and liaise with auditors.
- Maintain strong internal controls and financial procedures.
- Ensure VAT, tax filings, and statutory obligations are submitted accurately and on time.
- Assist in implementing financial policies aligned with Group governance.
Cash Flow & Treasury Support
- Monitor cash flow positions and working capital management.
- Review receivables, payables, and credit control processes.
- Assist in banking relations and financial facility management.
- Support treasury operations including payment approvals and reconciliations.
Financial Analysis & Strategic Support
- Provide financial analysis to support operational and strategic decisions.
- Evaluate investment proposals and capital expenditure requests.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and efficiency improvements.
- Prepare board-level financial summaries and performance dashboards.
Team Support & Coordination
- Supervise junior finance staff where applicable.
- Provide guidance on accounting treatments and procedures.
- Coordinate with procurement, HR, and operational departments on financial matters.
- Support system improvements within ERP and financial reporting tools.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- ACCA / ACA qualified or in final stages (preferred).
- 5+ years of progressive experience in finance or accounting roles.
- Strong knowledge of financial reporting standards and tax compliance.
- Experience in a multi-company or group structure is preferred.
- Advanced proficiency in MS Excel and accounting systems.
- Strong analytical, organisational, and problem-solving skills.

- Experience in industries such as automotive, hospitality, property, or trading.
- Strong commercial acumen and ability to interpret financial data strategically.
- Experience with ERP systems and financial dashboards.
- High level of integrity and confidentiality.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
- Fluency in spoken Maltese is mandatory due to regular interaction with local operational teams, drivers, suppliers, and key stakeholders.
