CFO Fundamental Vacancy

Position Overview:

Fundamental Ltd. is seeking to appoint a strategic, commercially driven, and results-oriented Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to lead the Group’s financial function and support its continued growth and operational excellence.

Reporting directly to the Group CEO and Board, the CFO will play a central role in strengthening financial governance, enhancing internal controls, and driving long-term financial sustainability across the Group’s portfolio of companies.

Role Overview:

The Chief Financial Officer will assume overall responsibility for the financial leadership of the Group, ensuring sound financial management, regulatory compliance, and strategic financial planning.

The role requires a hands-on executive capable of embedding structure, discipline, and transparency within the finance function while supporting operational performance and business expansion.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Strategy & Leadership

  • Develop and implement the Group’s financial strategy aligned with corporate objectives.
  • Provide strategic financial insight and advice to the Board.
  • Lead the annual budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes.
  • Support investment decisions, business development initiatives, and capital allocation strategies.

Financial Reporting & Controls

  • Oversee the preparation of timely and accurate statutory and management accounts.
  • Strengthen internal financial control systems and risk management frameworks.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory, tax, and statutory obligations.
  • Maintain robust financial reporting processes across all Group entities.

Governance & Compliance

  • Establish and maintain high standards of financial governance and accountability.
  • Liaise with external auditors, banks, financial institutions, and regulatory authorities.
  • Oversee VAT compliance, tax planning, and financial regulatory matters.
  • Support the development of structured operational compliance and financial oversight systems.

Treasury & Cash Flow Management

  • Monitor liquidity, working capital, and cash flow planning.
  • Manage banking relationships and financing arrangements.
  • Optimise funding structures to support operational and strategic growth.

Team Development & Leadership

  • Lead and develop the Group’s finance team.
  • Implement clear reporting structures and accountability mechanisms.
  • Promote a culture of financial discipline, performance monitoring, and continuous improvement.

Candidate Profile:

  • A degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related discipline.
  • Professionally qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CPA or equivalent certification preferred).
  • A minimum of 8–10 years’ experience in a senior financial leadership role.
  • Demonstrated expertise in financial governance, budgeting, forecasting, and statutory reporting.
  • Strong commercial judgement with the ability to translate financial data into strategic insight.
  • Experience operating within a multi-entity or group structure will be considered an asset.
  • Proven leadership capability, with the ability to build structure, accountability, and high-performing finance teams.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
  • Fluency in spoken Maltese is mandatory, given the role’s regular interaction with local operational teams, suppliers, and key stakeholders across the Group.
