Mechanic Fahrenheit Vacancy

Position Overview:

Fahrenheit Logistics Ltd is seeking a skilled Mechanic to support the maintenance and reliability of the company’s fleet and operational equipment. The selected candidate will be responsible for the inspection, servicing, repair, and diagnostics of cars, trucks, trailers, and heavy machinery, ensuring that all vehicles and equipment operate safely, efficiently, and in compliance with regulatory standards.

This role is critical in maintaining operational continuity across logistics and transport activities by ensuring that company vehicles and operational equipment remain fully functional and available for daily operations.

Key Responsibilities:

Fleet Maintenance and Repairs

  • Perform routine maintenance, servicing, and mechanical repairs on cars, trucks, trailers, and heavy-duty vehicles.
  • Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic faults using appropriate tools and diagnostic equipment.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical faults and system failures and implement corrective actions in a timely manner.
  • Inspect engines, transmissions, braking systems, suspension components, and other mechanical systems to identify wear, malfunction, or safety risks.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance checks to minimise breakdowns and operational disruptions.
  • Perform fluid checks, oil and filter changes, lubrication of components, and replacement of worn mechanical parts as part of scheduled maintenance.

Heavy Machinery Support

  • Service and repair forklifts, loading equipment, compressors, and other operational machinery used within logistics operations.
  • Repair and maintain diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and heavy-duty mechanical components.
  • Ensure machinery is maintained according to manufacturer specifications and safety requirements.

Inspection & Compliance

  • Conduct regular vehicle and equipment inspections to ensure compliance with transport safety and mechanical standards.
  • Identify potential mechanical risks and recommend corrective actions.

Technical Documentation

  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, repair logs, and service documentation.
  • Report maintenance requirements and spare parts needs to the Fleet Manager or relevant supervisor.

Workshop Operations

  • Ensure the workshop environment is kept clean, organised, and compliant with Health & Safety regulations.
  • Operate workshop equipment, diagnostic tools, lifting equipment, and specialised tools safely and effectively.
  • Assist in managing spare parts inventory and identifying required replacement components.
  • Support operational teams by ensuring minimal vehicle downtime and efficient turnaround of repairs.

Requirements:

Qualification / Experience

A technical qualification in Automotive Mechanics, Heavy Vehicle Maintenance, or proven practical experience working with cars, trucks, commercial vehicles, or heavy machinery.

Experience with diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and heavy-duty mechanical components will be considered an asset.
